Sometimes when an affiliate marketer is searching for products to promote, he/she has the tendency to look for products that are very popular and that pay high commissions as it seems this would be a good profitable niche to promote.

But in reality, this is not always the case, because if a product is very popular then it means there may also be a large amount of competition and it may prove to be too difficult to make a profit from this niche.

Also, an affiliate marketer will do much better at conversions if the niche he/she is affiliated with is a product that the affiliate uses and believes in and not just a product that pays well. Therefore an affiliate marketer should not choose a product just based the commission rate or popularity of the product.

A good way to be creative in your affiliate marketing niche ideas search is to take a niche that you are interested in, believe in and would enjoy promoting, then break it down into what is known as micro niches.

As an example if you know a lot about flower gardens and feel you would enjoy promoting books about flower gardens, but the competition is extremely high, try breaking it down into a micro niche by instead of using "flower gardens", use the micro niche of "flower gardens in the northeast" or "flower gardens that bloom all year".

Once you start breaking your main niche down into micro niches, you will be surprised at the ideas that will come to mind.

Also, if it is a niche you enjoy and know a lot about, then you will be able to promote it easier, and that will help to increase your conversions as you will be promoting a product that you truly endorse.

Another criteria that your niche or micro niche should meet is that it is something people would not mind paying for and that it is not available for free. If people can get the same thing for free they will probably not buy your product.

One good way of finding niches for any internet marketing business is by using a free tool called Google's Adwords Keyword Tool. This tool is simple to use and will give you the data to help you in picking out a niche that has plenty of searches and will also show you the amount of advertising competition for a particular niche.

Once you have the main niche idea of something you enjoy, just use this tool to help you find a micro niche that has plenty of searches(popularity) each month, but has little advertising competition.
